About me

I am a Frontend Software Architect with a passion for clean architecture and modern code. For over 8 years, I have been developing Angular applications for insurance, telecommunications, retail, and public sectors. My focus has primarily been on building enterprise e-commerce solutions with SAP Commerce, developing enterprise management systems, driving modularization, and migrating legacy systems to modern headless platforms. With my full-stack knowledge, I communicate effectively with backend teams and design end-to-end CI/CD workflows from commit to release. My profile is further complemented by solid expertise in AI-assisted development, which I use to improve efficiency and accelerate project delivery. My extensive experience with agile methods and Scrum also provides me with a strong understanding of processes, quality, and agile delivery.

STEP (Master Data Capture and Maintenance System) is the central master data system of the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit, BA). It includes the recording and maintenance of company and personal data. STEP serves as a central system for almost all BA IT applications that require master data to fulfill their tasks. The master data is provided for different business use cases and user groups via REST endpoints, Kafka events, file interfaces, service interfaces, and client applications.

In addition, STEP is responsible for the management and maintenance of company data for reporting purposes in the social insurance system, which falls under the responsibility of the organizational unit BNS (Business Number Service team, organizationally assigned to the Employment Agency Saarbrücken). Another component of STEP is MAZ (proof and reporting of non-contributory periods for the pension insurance system).

As part of its implementation, in addition to the IT standards commonly used within the BA, adjustments are also made to ensure compliance with data protection and information security requirements, as well as accessibility regulations.

Project tasks

  • Locating, analyzing, and fixing software defects
  • Supporting the creation of (functional) concepts and solution designs
  • Ensuring Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
  • Applying the DevSecOps approach
  • Applying agile practices
  • Providing 3rd level support

As part of this project, an existing B2B insurance customer portal, originally based on SAP Commerce (Hybris), was modernized and restructured. The previously monolithic system architecture was replaced with a decoupled, headless approach, with the frontend redeveloped using Angular. The backend initially remained in the SAP Hybris / Spring Boot environment, with controllers adapted to provide RESTful API endpoints according to the OpenAPI standard. Work was carried out following the Scrum framework in one-month sprints.

The long-term goal of the project was to gradually migrate from SAP Commerce (Hybris) to a modern, JHipster-based solution—primarily because SAP Commerce served mainly as a technological foundation without using its e-commerce functionalities. The migration also aimed to achieve a significant reduction in licensing costs.

The restructuring was intended to improve maintainability, promote frontend-backend independence, and make the platform future-proof for extensions and integrations.

Project tasks

  • Migration of the Angular application to a monorepo using Nx to structure and share libraries across multiple applications.
  • Establishment and enforcement of best practices in frontend architecture and code style
  • Support and technical guidance for the internal frontend team
  • Conducting code reviews and providing technical feedback on merge requests within the development team
  • Close collaboration with the backend team to integrate and utilize OpenAPI-based REST APIs
  • Implementation of UI components based on the new style guide in close cooperation with the design team
  • Ensuring accessibility, responsive design, and compliance with UX/UI guidelines
  • Performing manual component and UI testing
  • Development of GUI components with a focus on usability and performance
  • Documentation of source code and UI components
  • Setup and configuration of the Angular pipeline to support continuous integration

As part of a comprehensive relaunch, the existing eCare self-service platform was modernized to deliver a faster, more user-friendly, and visually appealing solution. Key focuses included performance optimization, a new responsive design, and the addition of features that provide users with a clearer overview of personal data such as contract information, usage behavior, and account details.

The mobilcom-debitel eCare user dashboard was fully redeveloped based on the existing Angular architecture. The project was organized as an Nx monorepo and consistently used GraphQL for backend communication. Additionally, the dashboard was functionally enhanced to dynamically display personalized content such as marketing campaigns, product recommendations, and special offers in a user-centric manner.

Development was carried out in an agile Scrum setup in close collaboration with UX designers, the frontend team, and marketing stakeholders. The technical focus was on maintaining a clean and maintainable architecture, high component reusability, and scalability for future requirements.

Project tasks

  • Implementation of the new eCare dashboard page to display contracts, data usage, invoices, marketing content, and other information
  • Collaboration with designers and project managers to deliver the desired user interface
  • Creation and maintenance of Jira tickets for task planning and organization
  • Integration of the new dashboard into the existing Angular application in coordination with the development team
  • Development using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and SCSS within an Nx monorepo architecture
  • Retrieval of backend data via GraphQL with a focus on performance and maintainability
